About the Author

I was born in June, 1982, in southern New Hampshire. I spent the first 25 years of my life in New England until I moved to Austin in 2007. Since then, I have lived in West Virginia and western Texas as well.

Writing was my first real hobby. My brother, friends, and I spent hours concocting stories involving characters we created ourselves. By the end of my "high school career," I knew that I would be pursuing a living involving the written word.

I self-published my first book in 2001. Marie's Book of Spells was its name. The short, 30-or-so page book serves as a basic introduction into spell casting and magic ritual. Since then, I've published two compilations of poetry and one cookbook. More information on these titles can be found by clicking here.

In my early twenties I pursued acting and modeling for fun. One of my short, student films can be watched on the IMDB. It was around this time that I discovered "wizard rock." I consequently founded a website called the Wizrocklopedia and spent approximately two years traveling the country attending and photographing wizard rock concerts and festivals. When the final Harry Potter book was about to be released, I spent hours on the phone with reporters from across the nation (including the Washington Post) discussing the musical movement.

While in West Virginia I became a photographer for The Inter-Mountain newspaper. I received two awards from the WV Press Association for my work with the company in 2008.

I have written for a number of blogs and online magazines including Mystic Witch, the Feminist Review, and The Pagan and the Pen. In my spare time, I act as a citizen journalist for Associated Content.

As can be expected, I am always working on my "next book." I currently have four in development including Cupcakes for the Gods, a collection of cupcake recipes inspired by the gods of Ancient Rome, Greece, and Egypt.
